When I looked at the calendar this morning, I realized that the end of this semester for university is right around the corner. Since the end of this semester will mark the end of my first year in university, I am actually quite excited about having the summer off so that I can recharge my batteries and be ready to kick off my second year in the fall. Because it is difficult to find short term housing during the summer, I will be spending mine with my parents back at home. The great thing about going home to live with your parents for the summer is that you get to slack off and have them do laundry for you once again (instead of worrying about it yourself).

Although I am acting like this semester is already over, the truth is that I still have to take all of my final examinations before I can leave for the summer. While I have plenty of friends who are absolutely dreading their final examinations, I have stayed on top of my studies this semester, so I am actually really confident about how I am going to do. Since I am so confident, I have already set up a summer reward for myself to celebrate my success this semester. Once I move back home to Birmingham, I am taking an old friend with me and we are picking up a Birmingham car rental I reserved. Our purpose in reserving a Birmingham car rental is to use it for a week to take a road trip that we have planned out. Since the two of us have both been working hard at university, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate starting the summer than to enjoy the freedom of being on the road for a full week.
